The Set You Need and How to Style It!

My favorite summer set this year is the Easy Livin Set from Free People. It is the most comfortable set made out of 100% cotton which is perfect for hot summer days or lounging around the house. The set consists of a scoop neck, racer-back tank and high rise shorts with an elastic waistband and cute waist tie. I have the set in the color Softest Oat which is a beautiful cream color but it also comes in Cocoa Fire which is a really pretty reddish brown that I'm also considering buying I love it that much! The set is priced at $88 for both the racer-back tank and shorts. Considering how comfy it is and it is also super versatile and can be worn many different ways making it worth the price.

I styled the Easy Livin Set in seven different ways for this post but have worn it other ways as well. In every look I styled the set with my all time favorite booties which are the Vegan Going West Boot. They are part of an exclusive collaboration with Matisse for Free People and are also $88. I have them in 3 colors I love them that much! For all the styles today I'm wearing the beige Going West Boot.

Look #1: Blazer and Sunglasses

Adding a blazer to any outfit is an easy way to elevate it! Here I added a neutral blazer from H&M (it's no longer available but I do recommend H&M for cute and affordable blazers). I also added the Violette Chunky Cat-Eye Sunglasses in the color Tortoise from Urban Outfitters which are my new favorite sunglasses. They're only $16 which is great for people like me who seem to lose or break sunglasses often.

Look #2: Straw Boater Hat and Perfect Tee

In this look instead of wearing the racer-back tank that came with the set I decided to wear my We The Free Perfect Tee in Light Earth from Free People. This is my favorite simple tee. It is slightly cropped and a boxy fit. It looks perfect with everything (hints the name). But seriously everything. I wear it with leggings, jeans, shorts, skirts, literally anything. It comes in many different colors and is $38.

Instead of wearing the waist tie that comes with the set I chose to change it to a skinny tan belt. I added an old Anthropology brown crocodile print bag and finished the look with a straw boater hat from H&M that I recently found for only $15!

Look #3: Add a Jean Jacket

Throwing on a jean jacket is a simple styling tip that will never get old. I opted for a boxy fit jean jacket from Rolla's. If you've never heard of Rolla's they're a denim company from Australia that I would highly recommend looking into. The sunglasses here are again the Violette Chunky Cat-Eye Sunglasses from Urban. I also added a round straw bag with a printed scarf to tie in the blue from the jacket.

Look #4: Jean Shorts and Straw Hat

In this look I kept the racer-back tank from the Easy Livin Set and added a pair of black distressed denim shorts (this is an old pair from American Eagle). I added a black straw handbag and black Clarissa Cat Eye sunglasses from Urban Outfitters (Also only $16!). I also added the Canyon Palm Leaf Rancher Hat from Free People. This is my first hat that I've invested in (it's $98) but it is good quality, very versatile and can be worn with so many different things. I love to wear it to the beach for some protection from the sun.

Look #5: Switch it up with a Tube Top

Here I kept the shorts from the Easy Livin Set and added an olive green waist tie that came from another pair of pants. I then added a paisley printed tube top ( from Free People last summer, no longer available). I also added cream cat eye sunglasses from Quay Australia to complete the look.

Look #6: Mini Skirt with a Pop of Color

Even though the material of the Easy Livin Set is a lived in Cotton, you can still dress it up! I added a cream skirt I got at a thrift shop (the fraied textured hem on the skirt helps it visually connect to the casual top). I also added a bright pink Kate Spade bag and round circle sunglasses with a pink lens from H&M to pull it all together.

Look #7: The Basic Look

The last look is just the Easy Livin Set and Going West Boots. I paired my round straw bag as well. I call it the basic look because this is where all the other outfits originally started from. This outfit is my go to when I need something to throw on because you don't have to put any thought or effort into it but it is still very cute!

I hope now you can see why this set is on my must-have summer list. I would love to hear any thoughts, opinions or questions you have!

XO,

Lyndsay Johnson
